The following list describes the goals in our plan that will help us achieve our vision for Middlesex County. Click on a goal to find out more information, and to browse the indicators and actions associated with it.

Goal 01:

Efficient, Clean, and Secure Energy

Protect the climate and maximize the use of efficient, clean, and secure energy.

Goal 02:

Vibrant Economy

Maintain and grow a vibrant and sustainable local economy.

Goal 03:

Pollution Prevention

Reduce pollution and ensure clean water, soil and air.

Goal 04:

Improving Transportation & Mobility

Reduce traffic congestion and ensure easy access to shopping, services, and jobs through a variety of convenient and sustainable transportation choices.

Goal 05:

Promote Sustainability Education & Community Outreach

By reaching the community that will be affected by sustainability initiatives and educating them about their benefits, making a sustainable community will be easier as citizens will have a better idea on what actions they need to take to lessen their environmental impact.

Goal 06:

Develop Green and Sustainable Building Practices and Policies

Buildings contribute a large amount of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere annually, enacting measures to lessen their effect on the environment would go a long way to setting a standard in sustainability.

Goal 07:

Promote Local Food and Agriculture

Stressing buying local, especially supporting local area farmers, is a step in the right direction for sustianability.

Goal 08:

Solid Waste Reduction & Recycling

Improve solid waste disposal efficiency and recycling rates.

Goal 09:

Natural Resource Preservation

Protect wildlife habitat, ecosystems, open space, and farmland.

Goal 10:

Enhance Public Health

Enhance and protect public health with access to quality health care, opportunities for both active and passive recreation, and protection from exposure to toxic contaminants.
